Dear Friend, The Trump Administration will resume federal executions after a 16-year hiatus. Executions are scheduled for: July 13, July 15, July 17, and August 28. Death Penalty Focus is working closely with our coalition partner Death Penalty Action, and other national groups to organize virtual and live protests against federal executions. Here's what you can do. 1. Sign the Petitions - State death penalty repeals and death penalty moratoria demonstrate that resumption of federal executions is against the will of the people. Executions are a violation of international human rights standards. Tell the U.S. Congress you oppose federal executions (sign the Congressional petition here). Tell President Trump to stop federal executions (sign the Trump petition here). 2. Come to Terre Haute, Indiana - Along with the local group Terre Haute Death Penalty Resistance, and other allies, we will be holding a peaceful social-distancing vigil outside the U.S. Penitentiary in Terre Haute, Indiana. We will protest in advance of, and during, each execution. To receive updates as the plans develop, join the Terre Haute email list. 3. Start planning a solidarity action/vigil where you live - All are encouraged to hold virtual vigils from home and social-distancing protests outside federal buildings. If you are planning an event in your area, please coordinate through Death Penalty Action at info@deathpenaltyaction.org. Engage on social media - Live tweet and share your events through Facebook and Twitter. Share hashtags #DefundTheDeathPenalty and #EndFedExecutions. 5.
